Map

October 2003. Norfolk NMP
Group of cropmarks visible to the immediate south of Holkham Great Barn, visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1). A possible ditched rectilinear enclosure is centred on TG 8908 4130, measuring 27.5m by 17.5m. Within the northern half of this enclosure are several parallel sunken linear features of varying widths. To the immediate east of these ditches features are a series of parched linears, which appear to represent field boundaries forming a ‘T-shape’. These linears run from TF 8908 4128 to TF 8913 4128 and another from TF 8910 4128 to TF 8909 4132. The date of these features is unknown for certain, although it is possible that they are medieval to post-medieval in date and may relate to earlier activity in the grounds of the Park.
S. Massey (NMP), 3 December 2003.
