Summary

Two undated, possibly post medieval, banks are visible as very low earthworks on visualised lidar data. They are not depicted on 19th century historical maps, but they fit the same pattern of land division, hence the suggested post medieval date. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2015), it is probable that the earthworks still survive.

Map

Two undated, possibly post medieval, banks are visible as very low earthworks on visualised lidar data (S1). They are not depicted on consulted 19th century historical maps (such as the Tithe Map S2), but they fit the same pattern of land division, hence the suggested post medieval date. It is also worth noting the proximity of Methwold Warren (NHER 55577) 500m to the west. The eastern boundary of the warren has been suggested to be the Fossditch (NHER 1089), but these two banks could also feasibly relate to a warren boundary. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2015), it is probable that the earthworks still survive. They are, however, very low and indistinct, and may be difficult to identify on the ground.
