Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two additions, constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding wheel-head cross. This memorial was erected to commemorate fifteen members of the local community who died in World War One, and latterly two casualties of World War Two. The memorial was Listed Grade II in June 2018.

Location: Spooner Row Churchyard, Chapel Road, Spooner Row.
Type: Wheel-head Cross
Description:
The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding wheel-head cross. It is used to commemorate fifteen members of the local community who died in World War One, and latterly two casualties of World War Two. It is described as “rising from a tapering, four-sided plinth, which surmounts a single-step stone base” (S1). There are inscriptions (dedications and names) in leaded lettering on the south face of the plinth in a smooth inset panel.
