Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two addition, constructed from granite in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, monolith. This memorial was erected to commemorate twelve members of the local community who died in World War One, and latterly a single serviceman who died in World War Two. The memorial was Listed Grade II in June 2018.

Location: Approximately 30m to the north of St Mary's Church, The churchyard, Church Hill, Tasburgh.
Type: Monolith
Description:
The memorial is constructed from granite, in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, monolith. It is used to commemorate twelve members of the local community who died in World War One, and latterly a single serviceman who died in World War Two. It is described “with a smooth panel cut into the front face” (S1). To this panel there is an inscription along with the associated names, all in metal lettering.
Proposed: Early 1919 by the Tasburgh Parish Council, and a War Memorial Committee was assigned to the task.

Unveiled: 1920 (by Lady Harvey, and dedicated by the Dean of Norwich).
Inscription: IN MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF TASBURGH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1919/ (12 NAMES)/ 1939-1945 (NAME)/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE.
