Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two addition, constructed from grey granite in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, Latin cross. This memorial was erected to commemorate a single casualty from World War One, and latterly a single casualty from World War Two. The memorial was Listed Grade II in June 2018.

Location: St Mary's Churchyard, Thrigby Road, Thrigby.

Description:
The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, Latin cross. It is used to commemorate a single casualty from World War One, and latterly a single casualty from World War Two. It is described as “rising from a tapering, four-sided plinth surmounting a single-step, square base” (S1). There is an inscription with the two associated names, along with regiment, date and location of death; on the plinth’s smoothed south face, in leaded lettering.
