Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two additions, constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding Celtic wheeled cross. This memorial was unveiled July 1920, it is used to commemorate members of the local community. Twelve who died in World War One, a single casualty from World War Two, and latterly a single casualty from the Afghanistan War (2008). The memorial was Listed Grade II in March 2018.

Location: Fakenham Road, Tittleshall.
Type: Wheel-head Cross
Description:
The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding Celtic wheeled cross. It is used to commemorate members of the local community, twelve who died in World War One, a single casualty from World War Two, and latterly a single casualty from the Afghanistan War (2008). It is described “with a tapered shaft, two-stepped plinth, and rusticated base” (S1). There are inscriptions on the plinth. The former World War One dedication (Inscription A) is to the north face, with twelve associated names. The World War Two dates (Inscription B) are inscribed beneath, along with the single associated name. The latter Afghanistan War dedication (Inscription A) is to the [east] face, with the single associated name. The memorial is enclosed by eight low timber posts linked by a metal chain.
