Map

March 2017. Trial Trench and Watching Brief.
Excavation of single trench as part of mitigation work undertaken prior to and during the construction of a new dwelling. This trench revealed no archaeologically significant remains and no finds were recovered. A particularly deep subsoil layer was present beneath the topsoil.
The initial excavations for a new garden wall were monitored, although the only remains of note were the flint and mortar footings of a wall. This wall extended from an existing outbuilding and was presumably of relatively recent date. Due to the negative results of the excavation no further groundworks were monitored.
See report (S1) for further details.
