Map

May-October 2010. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of new drainage dyke excavated as part of the Broadland Flood Alleviation Project (Compartment 6a).
At approximately TG 44440 21600 it was observed that there were three distinct areas where the clay extended into the peat. These features, which may well have been peat extraction pits, were reported by the machine driver but not seen by the archaeologist.
It is recorded that conditions for monitoring in this area were very poor, with waterlogged ground restricting access by foot.
See report (S1) for further details.
