Full Description
May-October 2010. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of new drainage dyke excavated as part of the Broadland Flood Alleviation Project (Compartment 6a).
No features were observed.
A number of finds were recovered during the initial topsoil stripping, including worked flints and two post-medieval copper alloy buttons. The small assemblage of worked flints comprises a barbed and tanged arrowhead and a thumbnail scraper of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date and a number of other, potentially contemporary Late Prehistoric pieces, including a crude end scraper and four hard-hammer struck irregular flakes. A sub-spherical pebble was also found that may have been utilised as a sling shot.
See report (S1) for further details.
