Full Description
November 2020. National Mapping Programme (NMP) Data Clean-Up.
This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Thetford, Norwich and the A11 Corridor NMP project, but not recorded. This record was written 7 years later, and therefore the information that can be included is limited, and the interpretation is more tentative than it might be otherwise.
A length of ditch, possibly of medieval to post medieval date, was identified as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (S1). It may be a continuation of features mapped 65m to the north (NHER 20028), which perhaps form part of Baconsthorpe medieval settlement. Modern aerial imagery (for example S2) and Ordnance Survey mapping indicates that the site now lies within a private garden; its current condition is not known.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk County Council, Historic Environment Service), 26 November 2020.
