Full Description
November 2020. National Mapping Programme (NMP) Data Clean-Up.
This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Thetford, Norwich and the A11 Corridor NMP project, but not recorded. This record was written approximately 10 years later, and therefore the information that can be included is limited, and the interpretation is more tentative than it might be otherwise.
A mound or roughly circular platform of unknown date was visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs of Thorpe Great Heath (S1). The date, function and current condition of the mound, which now lies within a forestry plantation, is not known.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk County Council, Historic Environment Service), 30 November 2020.
