Summary

A watching brief maintained during limited groundworks at this site in 2020 recorded no evidence for archaeologically-significant features or deposits. Apart from a single clay tobacco pipe fragment the finds collected were all of obviously modern date.

August 2020. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of front and side extensions to residential dwelling.
Although both of the two foundation trenches excavated revealed natural deposits nothing of archaeological interest was exposed. The only feature observed was a modern soakaway filled with 20th-century brick fragments.
Unstratified finds were limited to a single post-medieval clay tobacco pipe stem fragment and small pieces of modern brick and tile (none retained).
