Full Description
July 2014. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of small extension to The Old Vicarage (NHER 40581).
The single 'L'-shaped foundation trench excavated revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
A natural silty clayey sand was exposed in the base of the trench, overlain by disturbed soil deposits that were truncated by modern foundations and a number of service trenches.
Finds were limited to two post-medieval pottery sherds and a several fragments of animal bone.
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 26 January 2021.
