August 2017-March 2018. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed route of A140 Long Stratton Bypass.
This survey revealed no responses of obvious archaeological significance.
Although two positive linear anomalies were revealed these both correspond with former boundaries depicted on the Stratton St Mary tithe map (S2).
A series of weakly positive parallel north-north-east to south-south-west aligned linear anomalies are likely to represent field drains of post-medieval or later date.
A number of discrete magnetic spikes are likely to have been caused by ferrous objects in the topsoil – most likely modern debris.

August-November 2020. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed route of A140 Long Stratton Bypass (Trenches 8-18).
The 11 trenches excavated at this location revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
No finds were recovered.
