Summary

A watching brief maintained during the construction of new buildings at this site in 2012 recorded no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. It should though be noted that the monitored groundworks did not extend below the a reasonably think subsoil deposit, so archaeological remains present at this location may still lie preserved beneath the modern buildings.

Location

Map sheet TF62SW
Civil Parish KING’S LYNN, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

May-June 2012. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of new office and storage buildings.
No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were recorded and no finds were recovered.
It should though be noted that the various trenches opened for ground beams and services were only excavated to a maximum depth of 0.5m below present ground level. As a result they did not reach the base of what appeared to be a fairly deep, relatively undisturbed subsoil layer.
See report (S1) for further details.
