Summary

A watching brief maintained during groundworks at this site in 2015 recorded no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. There was therefore no evidence to suggest that the churchyard of St Mary’s Church (NHER 1767) had ever extended to the west of its present position.

Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of extension on east side of 3 Church Row.
All of the foundation trenches excavated exposed natural geological deposits but no archaeologically-significant features or deposits were identified. There was therefore no evidence to suggest that the churchyard of St Mary’s Church (NHER 1767) had ever extended to the west of its present position.
No artefacts dating to earlier than the 20th century were seen.
