Summary

World War One memorial constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross. This memorial was erected to commemorate six local servicemen who died in World War One. The memorial was restored in 2014 and Listed Grade II in March 2018.

Location: St Botolph's Churchyard, Church Road, Limpenhoe.
Description:
The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross. It is used to commemorate six local servicemen who died in World War One. It has been described as approximately “7ft tall… on a plinth with single-stepped base” (S1). There is an inscription on the plinth in incised lettering.
Proposed: Date unknown.
Constructed/Sculpted By: Unknown.
Unveiled: Erected around 1920.
Inscription: THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919/ IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ (NAMES)/ REST ETERNAL GRANT UNTO THEM O LORD.

2014. Restoration.
The memorial underwent centenary restoration works which was completed by the time it was re-dedicated.
Restored By: Mason, C. Smith of Great Yarmouth.
Unveiled: Re-dedicated on 10 August 2014.
