Map

November 2019-February 2020. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of land on route of proposed North Tuddenham to Easton A47 Improvement Works (Area F25 east).
This survey identified no anomalies of probable archaeological significance.
A single north-to-south aligned linear trend was potentially the result of agricultural activity and two other, more irregular linear trends probably reflected changes in the natural geology.
A small number of scattered discrete dipolar anomalies were probably caused by ferrous material in the topsoil (most likely modern debris).
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 29 July 2021.

July-October 2020. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of land on route of proposed North Tuddenham to Easton A47 Improvement Works (Area 29; Trenches 310-317).
The seven trenches excavated at this location revealed little in the way of archaeologically-significant remains, with only two east-to-west aligned ditches, a single possible pit and a natural feature recorded. None produced any dating evidence.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2020.131).
