Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two additions, constructed from grey granite in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross approximately 2.5m tall. This memorial was erected to commemorate eleven members of the local community who died in World War One, and five men who died in World War Two. The memorial was Listed Grade II in January 2018.

Location: Approximately 70m to the east of the Gatehouse, The churchyard, Binham Priory, Warham Road, Binham.
Description:
The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross approximately 2.5m tall. It is used to commemorate eleven members of the local community who died in World War One, and five men who died in World War Two. It is described with the cross standing “on a tapering plinth and single square base raised on a simple concrete foundation” (S1). There are inscriptions in leaded lettering. A dedication starts inset to the base of the cross shaft (Inscription A) and continues on a granite tablet to the front face of the plinth, along with the associated names for both World War One and Two respectively (Inscription B).
