Summary

A cable trench excavated in 2014 revealed a single ditch at this location. This feature was poorly dated, with only a single small pottery sherd of possible Iron Age/Roman date recovered.

July-August 2014. Watching Brief and Strip Map and Sample Excavation.
Archaeological mitigation work undertaken during installation of underground electrical cable for West Raynham Solar Park.
No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were observed during the stripping of this section of the cable route easement.
The subsequent excavation of a narrower trench for the cable itself revealed a single ditch at c. TF 8816 2509. This north-west to south-east aligned feature produced a single pottery sherd of possible Iron Age or early Roman date.
No unstratified finds were recovered.
