Summary

Metal-detecting at this location in 2016 and 2018 recovered a dispersed Late Bronze Age hoard. This hoard comprises a mix of complete implements, miscast pieces and fragments of deliberately broken objects. Identifiable objects include socketed axeheads, socketed spearheads, sword blade fragments, rings, a palstave axehead, pole cap, socketed knife, socketed chisel, probable strap or harness fitting and cylindrical staple or handle lug from vessel.

Late Bronze Age dispersed hoard consisting of 6 socketed axeheads, 4 socketed axehead fragments, 1 palstave axehead, 5 socketed spearheads, 2 socketed spearhead fragments, 1 socketed spearhead or knife fragment, 1 socketed knife, 1 socketed chisel, 2 sword blade fragments, 1 ring, 1 cylindrical staple or handle lug from vessel, 1 pole cap, 3 unidentified fragments.
The hoard comprises a mix of deliberately broken and miscast objects, as well as some apparently undamaged pieces.

The hoard was submitted for consideration as Treasure (Ref: 2016 T470), along with a number of additional items recovered in October 2016 (see below).

1 Late Bronze Age penannular ring, 1 probable strap or harness fitting, 1 fragment of sword, rapier or dirk blade, 1 miscast object fragment (possibly a palstave or chisel), 1 possible socketed axehead fragment and 2 fragments of copper alloy casting waste. These items are the first addendum to the hoard found in March 2016.

Found 10m apart at [6]:
2 Late Bronze Age socketed axehead fragments. These objects are a fourth addendum to the hoard found in March 2016 (they were not initially recognised as being part of the hoard).

These fragments were returned to the finder after being disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2022 T428).

1 Late Bronze Age socketed axehead.
This object is the second addendum to the hoard found in March 2016.

1 Late Bronze Agesocketed axehead fragment, 1 unidentified cast copper alloy fragment; 1 fragment of copper alloy metal-working waste, 3 copper alloy droplets and 1 piece of lead waste.
These objects are the third addendum to the hoard found in March 2016.
