Map

June 2013. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of two new residential dwellings.
It was found that there had been significant previous excavations at the site, following the demolition of a cottage that had once stood here. The site of the new buildings had been terraced back into a chalk ridge, with up to 2m of material removed, leaving a vertical face exposed. At a result the foundation trenches for the new buildings were dug directly into natural chalk.
No finds were recovered.
See report (S1) for further details.
