Summary

This building has 16th-century origins but is much altered. The eastern portion is part of the Damgate Street range (NHER 15779). The main Church Street range dates to the 17th century and has a 19th-century brick skin and 20th-century shop fronts.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Shop. Eastern portion part of Damgate Street range. 16th-century origins, much altered. Timber-framed with brick skin. Roof of black glazed pantiles. 20th-century shop front to right...Gabled roof hipped to north. Main range on Church Street 17th century. Timber-framed with 19th-century brick skin. Two storeys and dormer attic in six irregular bays. 20th-century shop fronts to right and left of elevation. Between them are two 20th-century doors separated by a 20th-century display window in armour glass...Gabled roof with one gabled dormer. Central ridge stack. Rear has 20th-century brick extensions and evidence of timber-frame at first floor.
INTERIOR. No 1 with double wave-moulded bridging beam to ground floor. Remainder with little of interest."
