Map

January 2020. Geophysical Survey.
Ground penetrating radar survey in grounds of Beachamwell Hall (NHER 4506).
The small area examined at this location revealed a high-amplitude rectangular anomaly close to the adjacent 18th-century building. This is likely to represent the remains of a demolished structure of some kind that had once adjoined the side of the cottage. A high-amplitude linear response to the east is likely to represent the remains of a demolished wall, possibly associated with a short section of similarly-aligned wall to the north.
Another small area was examined to the west of the cottage in order to prospect for a possible tank beneath the gravel drive. This revealed no anomalies of archaeological interest. See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2023.99).
