Full Description
February-March 2021. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of ménage.
A fairly large rectangular area was stripped, although across much of the plot the subsoil layer was not fully removed, potentially obscuring any remains present. Natural geological deposits were though exposed in a 5m wide band at the southern edge of the site. Two large probable extraction pits and a pair of adjacent north-to-south aligned ditches were recorded in this area. No finds were recovered from these features, although it is suggested they were most probably medieval or post-medieval in date.
See report (S1) for further details.
