Summary

A low, circular earthwork bank has been identified within airborme laser scanning data. The course of the earthworks matches a plantation boundary depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map and the area remains tree-covered. Whilst interpretation cannot be certain without additional investigation, the raised earthwork is most likely to be a plantation bank of late-19th century or earlier date.

Map

September 2022. Airborne Laser Scanning Interpretation.
A low circular earthwork bank has been identified within LiDAR (S1). The course of the earthworks matches a plantation boundary depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (S2) and the area remains tree-covered. A large depression located in the interior of the southwest corner of the earthworks is the result of quarrying activity which is also depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (S2). Whilst interpretation cannot be certain without additional investigation, the raised earthwork is most likely to be a plantation bank of late-19th century or earlier date.
