Map

February-March 2017. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on possible route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (GS06).
Survey of part of location identified as a priority for examination due to its archaeological potential.
This survey of the central and northern parts of the site identified nothing of potential archaeological interest.
Scattered discrete dipolar 'spikes' and larger areas of weak magnetic disturbance are probably the result of ferrous material on or close to the surface (most likely modern debris).
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.

May 2018. Desk-based Assessment.
Environmental Impact Assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm on the historic environment. This study incorporated the results of an initial walkover survey and the first phases of geophysical survey.
See relevant chapter of Environmental Statement and associated appendices for further detail (S1).

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P1TT04; Trenches 21-24).
The four trenches excavated at this location revealed two pits and a ditch. These features were all undated - finds being limited to a single Neolithic retouched flint flake recovered from a fairly large flat-based pit at the southern end of the site. The second pit lay at the northern end of the site. A sample from its fill was found to contain frequent charcoal and burnt flint. The single ditch recorded was a north-east to south-west aligned feature in the central part of the site.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
