Environmental Impact Assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm on the historic environment. This study incorporated the results of an initial walkover survey and the first phases of geophysical survey.

November 2021-March 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (Area 4102).
This survey identified nothing of definite archaeological interest. A large area of magnetic enhancement in the south-east corner of the site corresponds with a former pond shown on the Ordnance Survey First Edition Six-inch map (S2). A single discrete anomaly and an adjacent irregular linear anomaly are recorded as being of an undetermined nature but are both probably natural in origin.
Scattered discrete dipolar anomalies and various other areas of magnetic disturbance were probable caused by ferrous material on or near the surface (most likely modern debris).

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P2TT50; Trenches 542-545).
The four trenches excavated revealed only a single undated ditch. Three fragments of burnt flint were recovered from the fill of this north-west to south-east aligned feature.
