Map

May 2018. Desk-based Assessment.
Environmental Impact Assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm on the historic environment. This study incorporated the results of an initial walkover survey and the first phases of geophysical survey.
See relevant chapter of Environmental Statement and associated appendices for further detail (S2).
P. Watkins (HES), 16 April 2025.

November 2021-March 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (Area 41).
This survey identified nothing of obvious archaeological interest. An extensive area of magnetic disturbance at the southern end of the site corresponds with a former clay pit shown on the Ordnance Survey First Edition Six-inch map (S2).
A cluster of linear and discrete anomalies in the central part of the site are recorded as being of an undetermined nature but are most likely natural in origin.
There was no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with a previously mapped north-west to south-east aligned cropmark (part of a group of fragmentary and undated field boundaries recorded as NHER 50666).
Various other large, amorphous anomalies are all of probable natural origin.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 16 April 2025.

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P2TT51; Trenches 553-559).
The seven trenches excavated at this location revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. There was again no evidence for surviving remains associated with the single cropmark mapped at this location (part of the group recorded as NHER 50666).
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 16 April 2025.
