May 2018. Desk-based Assessment.
Environmental Impact Assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm on the historic environment. This study incorporated the results of an initial walkover survey and the first phases of geophysical survey.
See relevant chapter of Environmental Statement and associated appendices for further detail (S1).

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P3TT22; Trenches 947-956).
The ten trenches excavated at this location revealed a number of scattered linear and discrete features, none of which produced any dating evidence. The most notable of the discrete features was a possible hearth with a charcoal-rich fill that contained frequent burnt stones. A sample taken from this deposit produced a small amount of hammerscale (debris from ironworking). The pits uncovered appear to have all been fairly unremarkable features.
Three undated ditches were recorded, all of which were aligned roughly east-to-west or north-to-south.
No unstratified finds were recovered.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 24 February 2025.
