Summary

A geophysical survey of this site in 2021/2022 identified no anomalies of obvious archaeological significance. Subsequent trial trenching in 2021/2022 has similarly negative results, with only a single natural feature recorded.

Environmental Impact Assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm on the historic environment. This study incorporated the results of an initial walkover survey and the first phases of geophysical survey.

November 2021-March 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (Area 7901).
This survey identified no anomalies of obvious archaeological significance.
The only responses of potential interest were a curvilinear anomaly at the eastern end of the field and a number of adjacent small discrete anomalies. These are all regarded as being of undetermined origin and therefore not necessarily associated with archaeological remains.

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P2TT106; Trenches 852-858).
The seven trenches excavated at this location revealed only a single feature, which was found to be a natural hollow.
