NHER 66385 (Monument record) - Undated rectilinear enclosures

December 2014. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site of proposed quarry extension (Field 1).
This survey identified a group linear anomalies at the northern end of the field likely to represent a pair of rectilinear enclosures adjacent to the lane running between Mangreen Hall (NHER 9767) and Mangreen Hall Farm (NHER 17663). Various other, more discrete anomalies present at this location indicate the presence of additional, associated remains and suggest that this was potentially a settlement site. A possible Late Prehistoric or Roman date is suggested for these remains, although their position adjacent to the lane probably makes a medieval to post-medieval date more likely.
There was no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with a north-to-south aligned earthwork visible on aerial photographs at the western edge of this field (part of a large group recorded as NHER 52134).

Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (Area 84).
This survey of a diagonal strip across the southern half of the site recorded a number of linear and discrete anomalies that were regarded as being of undetermined origin and could therefore potentially represent archaeologically-significant remains. The most notable was a north-to-south aligned linear anomaly that appears to correspond with an earthwork feature visible on aerial photographs at the western edge of the field (part of a group of vegetation marks and slight earthworks recorded as NHER 52134).

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P2TT113; Trenches 937 and 938).
This phase of work saw the excavation of two trenches within the area examined by the 2021/2022 geophysical survey. No archaeologically-significant remains were recorded, despite one of the trenches coinciding with the earthwork feature that had appeared to have a corresponding geophysical anomaly.
