Summary

This 17th-century threshing barn is a timber-framed and weatherboarded building with a thatched roof. It was altered in the 18th century and its west end replaced with brick in the 19th century. It is one of two Grade II listed barns at Carldecote Farm (the other being NHER 34080, to the north-west).

January 1992. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description excerpt:
"Threshing barn. 17th century, altered in 18th century. Timber framed and weatherboarded. Thatched roof covered with corrugated iron. Four-bay barn with opposing doors in bay two. West end to 19th-century brick wall with east end weatherboarded with three-light window. Opposing doors, main cart entrance south side, full height; north entrance three-quarter height.
Interior: close studding. Tie beams on jowled principal posts, with curved arch braces west end and knuckle braces at east end. Two tiers of purlins trenched over principals. Diagonal windbracing. Collars at mid span on principal rafters and added struts between upper purlins."
