Summary

A rectilinear cropmark of uncertain nature is visible on recent aerial imagery of this location. This has been tentatively interpreted as a compartmented rectilinear enclosure, although its form is quite irregular and the associated cropmarks fairly indistinct.

Examination of available aerial imagery and lidar data for proposed route of Anglian Water Bexwell to Bury St Edmunds pipeline.
A rectilinear cropmark of uncertain nature is visible on recent Google Earth imagery of this location (S1). This has been interpreted as a compartmented rectilinear enclosure, although its form is quite irregular and the associated cropmarks fairly indistinct. It is suggested that it could represent a Roman villa or farmstead but this seems unlikely.
