Full Description
November 2020-March 2021. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Norwich Western Link (Area 11).
This survey identified little of potential archaeological interest. The only of responses of note are two discrete anomalies regarded as being of undetermined origin. Scattered discrete dipolar anomalies were probable caused by ferrous material on or close to the surface (most likely modern debris).
There was no evidence for surviving remains associated with a pair of adjacent linear cropmarks that fall with the survey area (part of a group of potentially post-medieval boundaries recorded as NHER 50609).
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 24 February 2025.
May-July 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Norwich Western Link (Field TT15; Trenches 109, 113 and 116-119).
The six trenches excavated at this location revealed a number of ditches and a single possible post-hole in the central part of the site. None produced any dating evidence.
See report (S2) for further details.
