Full Description
November 2020-March 2021. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Norwich Western Link (Area 13).
This survey identified nothing of definite archaeological interest. A single strong discrete anomaly and several short linear anomalies may be associated with sub-surface remains, although all are regarded as being of undetermined origin. The majority of the anomalies recorded are thought to be either of natural origin or the result of recent agricultural activity. Scattered dipolar discrete anomalies were probable caused by ferrous material on or close to the surface (most likely modern debris).
There was no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with a group of fragmentary linear cropmarks that potentially represent a small enclosure and associated boundaries (part of a group of potentially Iron Age to Roman remains recorded as NHER 50610).
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 24 February 2025.
May-July 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Norwich Western Link (Field TT13; Trenches 127-132).
The six trenches excavated at this location revealed no archaeological-significant features or deposits, despite several having been placed to coincide with the potentially Iron Age or Roman cropmarks recorded at this location (NHER 50610).
No finds were recovered.
See report (S2) for further details.
