Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of extension to 7 Bridge Street (NHER 44554) and new detached garage.
The narrow foundation trenches excavated for the new structures revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. A fairly deep subsoil layer was found to be present.
No finds were recovered.
The works to the north of the house saw the partial removal of a World War Two road block comprising sections of railway track set vertically in concrete (NHER 57845). The post closest to the house was reduced to ground level and the adjacent post removed entirely.
