Map

March 2009-March 2010. Watching Brief.
Maintained during excavation of new drainage dyke to north of Thurne Mill (NHER 6554) as part of the Broadland Flood Alleviation Project (Compartment 7).
The southernmost section of this new dyke coincided with a probable post-medieval causeway or flood bank visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs (NHER 45083). A site visit prior to the commencement of these works found that this bank or causeway was no longer identifiable as an earthwork and no associated remains were observed during the excavation of the new dyke.
The excavation of the remainder of this section of new dyke also revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
No finds were recovered.
See report (S1) for further details.
