Full Description
July 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of a probable Bronze Age ring ditch are seen on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The ring ditch most likely relates to the site of a Bronze Age round barrow. The feature consists of a larger outer ring ditch and a possible smaller inner ring ditch. Dense geological cropmarks are visible across the area and its possible that the inner ring ditch may be natural rather than archaeological in origin. The feature is in close proximity to two conjoined probable Bronze Age ring ditches (NHER 65682 and 65783) (approximately 20m) to the south. The ring ditch may form part of a Bronze Age barrow cemetery (NHER 66789) along with the cropmarks of further probable Bronze Age ring ditches recorded in the vicinity.
This feature was previously recorded as part of NHER 21834
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 25 July 2022.
