August 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of a possible rectilinear enclosure of an uncertain date are seen on aerial photographs (S1-S4). Although the date of the feature is uncertain, a Roman date is possible. The possible enclosure is within an area of cropmarks most likely dating to the medieval to post medieval period. The features southern ditch appears to be cut by a possible medieval to post medieval field boundary (NHER 21834). The enclosure may cut the cropmarks of an earlier possible Iron Age to Roman trackway (NHER 65798), although this is uncertain. A large number of Roman finds (NHER 33592) have also been recorded across the area which may further suggest a Roman date for the enclosure.
