NHER 67118 (Monument record) - Post-medieval or later post-holes

March 2023. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
Three post-holes were revealed in the westernmost of the three trenches excavated, one of which produced a single sherd of post-medieval pottery.
Unstratified finds were limited to a small number of late post-medieval to modern objects, including pottery sherds, a coin and a button.
It is noted that the natural geological deposit exposed was a dense clay 'brickearth', suggesting that the ponds in vicinity could well represent the remains of extraction pits dug to obtain clay for brick production.
