NHER 67121 (Monument record) - Undated ditches and pit

October 2014. Trial Trench.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The single trench excavated exposed natural geological deposits, which lay beneath the surviving remnants of what appeared to be the original subsoil. There was though evidence for considerable recent disturbance with these deposits truncated by a number of rubble-filled modern intrusions. Part of the trench was also obscured by spreads of modern overburden.
Archaeologically-significant remains were limited to adjoining east-to-west and north-to-south aligned ditches and a single pit – none of which produced any dating evidence. It is though noted that one of the ditches was partially truncated by the foundations of buildings that had previously occupied the site, suggesting it was probably of some age.
No unstratified finds were recoved.
