Full Description
July 2023. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The enclosure described below lies within the area of cropmarks previously recorded as part of NHER 1006 and 1124. It is not, however, specifically mentioned in existing records.
A D-shaped enclosure, of unknown but probable prehistoric date, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1). It overlaps, and is presumably cut by, the defences for Brampton Roman town (NHER 66781), although this chronological relationship is not certain, and it could instead be a later feature.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 21 July 2023.
