Summary

A series of possible multi period boundaries can be seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Map

July 2021. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A series of possible multi period boundaries can be seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S2). The features are on multiple alignments and most likely relate to a series of boundaries and possible field boundaries. The possible bank features centred at TG 1348 2349 may actually be ditch features showing as inverted negative cropmarks. An undated pit feature is also seen in close proximity to the boundaries (centred at TG1334 2361). There is also a large amount of geological cropmarks surrounding the features and it is therefore possible that some of the mapped features maybe natural in origin. Post medieval field boundaries can also be seen as cropmarks on the consulted sources in-between the mapped features. As these post medieval boundaries have been mapped in good detail on the historic maps (S3-S5), these features have not been mapped as part of this project. A large amount of multi period finds (including Roman and Medieval) (NHER 7461 19521, 19522, 33097) have been recorded in close proximity to the mapped features and in the adjacent field to the south.
