Map

August 2021. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A series of banks, ditches and mounds, of a possible medieval to post medieval, date can be seen earthworks on aerial photographs and visualised lidar data (S1-S3). The features most likely relate to a series of boundaries and drainage ditches. The features are most likely medieval to post medieval in date and are not seen on the historic maps (such as S4). There are two small mound features seen on S2 located at TG 1505 2228 and TG 1506 2221. It is possible that the two mound features may have related to former medieval building platforms. However, it is equally possible that the mounds are post medieval or modern features. An extent of area has been used to map the earthworks in the east of the area as some of the earthworks most likely relate to modern drainage rather than archaeological features. The majority of the earthworks have since been levelled with some (such as the mound at surviving at TG 1505 2228) seen as low earthworks on the visualised lidar data (S3).
