Summary

The site of an undated ring ditch is seen as cropmark on aerial photographs. The feature most likely relates to the site of a probable Bronze Age round barrow. However, the possibility that the feature could relate to an undated circular enclosure cannot be ruled out.

Map

February 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The site of an undated ring ditch is seen as cropmark on aerial photographs (S1). The feature most likely relates to the site of a probable Bronze Age round barrow. However, the possibility that the feature could relate to an undated circular enclosure cannot be ruled out. A dense area of geological cropmarks can be seen across the area and it is possible that the feature may be natural in origin. The cropmarks of a post medieval boundary bank can be seen possibly cutting the ring ditch on the aerial photographs. As the post medieval boundary is recorded in good detail on the Tithe map (S2), it has not been mapped as part of this project.
This feature was previously recorded as part of NHER 11663.
