Full Description
December 2009. Desk-based Assessment.
Archaeological assessment of proposed route of onshore cable for Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm.
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 21 August July 2023.
July 2013–April 2014. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable (Field 30).
This survey identified a series of parallel, closely spaced north-north-east to south-south-west aligned linear anomalies. This are most likely either associated with recent agricultural activity or the result of variations in the underlying geology.
Several amorphous discrete positive anomalies may though represent infilled pits, ponds or hollows. Scattered dipolar spikes probably represent ferrous material on or close to the surface (most likely modern debris).
See report (S2) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 21 August July 2023.
November 2013-October 2014. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable (Field 30; Trench 57).
The single trench excavated at this location was positioned to coincide with several of the linear anomalies identified by the preceding geophysical survey.
No associated sub-surface remains were identified.
No finds were recovered.
See report (S3) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 21 August July 2023.
2014-2016. Watching Brief.
Maintained during installation of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable (General Watching Brief; Field 30).
No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were recorded and no finds recovered.
See assessment report (S4) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 21 August July 2023.
