Map

June 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries are seen as earthworks (since levelled) on aerial photographs (S1). The features consist of earthwork banks and ditches which most likely relate to medieval to post medieval field boundaries. At TF 8911 0938 a possible hollow or pit is also visible in close relation to the probable field boundaries. It is uncertain as to whether this feature is natural in origin or relates to an area of former post medieval extraction. The features can be seen as earthworks in the 1940s (S1) and are presumed to have been levelled by the 1970s (S2) when the site appears to be partially built over. The features are not recorded on the readily available historic maps such as the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S3).
