Map

June 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Earthworks (since levelled) of a possible medieval to post medieval enclosure and field boundary are seen on aerial photographs (S1). The southern feature (centred at approximately TF 8861 0909) consists of a ditched area with a raised interior. It is possible that this feature may relate to a possible medieval to post medieval enclosure. In the north of the area (TF 8860 0912) an angled earthwork ditch is visible. It is possible that this feature may relate to a former medieval to post medieval field boundary. It is also possible that both of the features may have related to post medieval drainage. The features can be seen as earthworks on 1940s (S1) aerial photographs and have been levelled by the 1970s (S2). The features are not recorded on the readily available historic maps such as the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S3).
