Summary

In 2009 a medieval dispersed coin hoard was recovered at this location. This comprised 24 short cross pennies, the majority from the reign of Henry III.

Found dispersed over a small area at [1]:
Medieval coin hoard comprising 24 short cross pennies. They belong mostly to Henry III's reign, with a few earlier coins also present.
On 30 November A. Marsden (NLA) and A. Rogerson (NLA) met the finders on site and supervised the excavation of a trench measuring 3m NE-SW by 2m NW-SE on the site of greatest concentration of finds. This was dug with spades to a depth of c.300mm, just above the base of the ploughsoil. Only a single additional coin was recovered.
This hoard was declared Treasure at inquest on 13 September 2010 (Ref: 2009 T704) and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2011.344).
